Shift an unstarted project

Shift an unstarted project

The project shift feature allows you to easily and quickly shift an unstarted project with all its associated management elements:
- the GANTT schedule,
- budget lines (excluding those closed / linked to an order / consumed)
- assignments,
- selected current simulations,
- the date of the next risk review,
- deadlines for open tasks.

1. Access the functionality

The project shift button is accessible via:
- the "Shift project" button

- the context menu

Notes
The feature only appears on eligible projects, i.e.:
- the project has a schedule or a budget,
- the start date of the schedule (GANTT) is after today's date,
- the budget start date is after today's date,
- the project stage is not "Completed",
- Budget dates do not cover a closed financial year.

On the user side, the functionality is accessible to users with:
- modification rights on the project
- modification rights on all budget lines in the project. The button will be displayed but disabled if modification rights are partial on budget lines in the project.

2. Shift rules

The following rules are applied for the offset
  1. The number of shift days is calculated in calendar days from the initial project start date to the new chosen start date . The shift can be in the future or in the past.
  2. Idea For example: a project with a planning start date of 06/10/2025 and whose start is postponed to 20/10/2025 will be postponed by 14 calendar days.
  3. If no schedule is defined , the budget is used as a reference to calculate the number of days of offset , from the first day of the initial month of the start of the budget.
  4. Idea For example, if my project does not have a schedule and my budget starts in October 2025, if I postpone the start to 10/11/2025, the delay will be 40 calendar days for tasks and risks and 1 month for the budget and simulations.
  5. The budget, simulations and allocations are shifted in months only if the starting month changes.
  6. Idea For example: for a project with a planning start date of 06/10/2025 and whose start is postponed to 20/10/2025, the start month does not change, the budget, simulations and allocations will therefore not be adjusted.
  7. The Gantt, tasks (Revised Deadline), risks (Next Review Date) will be shifted according to the calculated variance.

3. Using the wizard to shift the project

After clicking the button:

3.1 Choose whether or not to include simulations (option only offered if your project has them)

You can select which simulations to include in the offset if a simulation exists.
Info
Only “In progress” simulations are offered
If a simulation is integrated → all its budget lines and its period are shifted (without distinction of cases)

3.2 Indicate the new desired start date:

Info
The shift is possible from the day after the current date, excluding dates falling within a closed or closing financial year.

3.3 Analyze the impact of the shift:

After selecting the start date, the wizard displays:
- the new Budget and Planning dates
- an availability alert (profiles/collaborators) in case of over-allocations
- a summary of the impact on budget lines : number of lines shifted if all can be, otherwise, how many cannot be
- a histogram of the budget by financial year (max 5 financial years) with OPEX/CAPEX view, before/after

Info
The following are not offset: closed budget lines, with attached orders, having consumed (invoices, time, etc.) or timesheets in the process of being entered

3.4 Expand to see the detailed analysis of availability and other impacts

  1. Availability by employee:
    1. This table allows you to view, profile by profile and collaborator by collaborator , the impact of the project shift on availability (capacities, assignments, remaining to be assigned) according to the new start date of the project selected).
Hovering over a box allows you to display more detailed information (capacity, assignments, etc.) for each box.

  1. Display of summary of other impacts at the bottom of the page (number of days of delay and quantity impacted) : GANTT , risks , tasks

3.5 Validate the offset:

Click the validate button to make the project shift effective.
